Essential Operating Support

Your tax-deductible donation helps equip the Community Ecology Institute with the resources we need to flourish as an innovative and inspiring community asset.  Your contributions matter deeply, watering the roots of all we do and helping our literal and figurative gardens grow. We are especially grateful for sustaining donors, whose reoccurring gifts help us:
  • staff our community-uplifting work
  • offer unique and dynamic events and programs
  • develop and maintain our land stewardship, including Freetown Farm
  • foster community resiliency through meaningful collaborations and partnerships
  • and more!
Please support our core operations!

Green Farmacy Garden Stewardship

CEI is honored to become the new owner of the Green Farmacy Garden (GFG), a unique teaching garden and plant and seed sanctuary. The stewardship of this land for both social and ecological benefits requires $100,000 per year, at a maintenance level, which includes continuing the work of the three current gardeners who are knowledgeable about the property and its specialized needs. We are asking for the community's support to help us step into this important role in 2023. We plan to move mindfully in in this journey and want to come to know the property before making any substantial changes or adding any substantial programming. Your support will help us ensure a thoughtful and successful transition process.

Tax-Wise Giving: Donating Stock

Are you interested in making a charitable gift that may yield double tax benefits and additional savings? When you make a gift of stock to CEI, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while supporting our mission. A gift of stock may be right for you if:
* You are holding stocks that have risen in value. If your stocks are highly appreciated, you may find yourself with a hefty tax bill when it comes time to sell. By using these securities as a gift, you can avoid the capital gains tax.
* You would like to maximize your deduction while not affecting your liquidity. If you decide to make a gift of stock, you not only retain your cash assets, but you also receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock that you’ve owned for more than one year.
