School Gardens

Picture
Vision

Our team envisions a future where all community members have access to nutritious locally-grown food, the knowledge to grow it, access to gardens that support their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. We are building a future where community members feel confident in their knowledge about recycling and that the materials they recycle are being put to good use in their communities.

Our Goal
In 2022, CEI in partnership with Howard County nonprofit Upcycled will engage at least 13 schools in working towards achieving this vision by designing and installing school gardens (food or pollinator) that support the healthy development of children, and develop positive relationships between them, their food, and the environment. Additionally, Upcycled will work with schools to create recycling events that will collect recyclable plastics used to produce a durable plastic lumber-alternative we'll use to make at least one garden bed at each school.

We want to hear from you! Would your school benefit from a garden?
Are you interested in partnering with CEI to install a garden at a school in your neighborhood? Do you know of another organization that serves children that could benefit from a garden? Please complete this school garden interest form, and a member of our Nourishing Gardens team will reach out to you!
