Making New from the Old

Maker Space

mak·er·space: noun - a place in which people with shared interests can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment and knowledge.
The Maker Space at Freetown Farm supports personal and community resilience by providing a place for people to learn lost arts and skills that were commonly known several generations ago. The maker space is also home to the Repair Cafés, a grassroots movement that aims to reduce waste, overconsumption, and planned obsolescence.  Maker Space programs foster an "I can do it" spirit and strengthen social cohesion.

As we continue to create more opportunities for resilience and sustainable living, we could surely use the community's support to develop the Maker Space!

The Maker Space at Freetown Farm is the home of a monthly Repair Café!
Do you have items in your house that need fixing or mending but you don't know how to fix them yourself?
Bring your broken items to the Transition Repair Café!  Volunteers will evaluate and fix as many of them as they can and offer their expertise on items that are too large or not possible to bring in.
The Repair Cafe's are the last Saturday of the Month from April through October.
